Epson Stylus SX218

Inkjet printer are not known for their value for money when it comes to replacement printer cartridges but Epson seems to be makes a small effort to make they printers slightly more economical with their separate ink cartridge system. Having each colour using it own cartridge means n ink gets wasted in only one colour has run out, but this doesn’t mean that the price of the Epson ink cartridge has come down at all. A set of Epson SX218 ink cartridges cost over £30 and this is only slightly less than the price of the printer itself. Being a multifunction printer the SX218 has no shortage of features all of which is does to a reasonable standard. So functions it performs better than others, speed is definitely not one of the SX218 strongest points and even though the official spec sheet claim a maximum speed of 34ppm (pages per minute) in reality the SX218 is only capable of 4ppm, which is pretty slow. Print quality however is the complete opposite, it excellent, well behind what you would expect from a printer at this price. The SX218 is capable of printing high resolution photo prints on a wide range of media types as well as all the standard documents like text and graphics. The scanner and copier functions are not as impressive as the printing but they are perfectly adequate for small volumes of basic tasks and also have some convenient features like PC-free copying for example. The SX218 feels well put together has an attractive design and is very compact and will fit in well in most home or small office environments.
